An update on The Help by Kathryn Stockett: A novel about a young Ms. Skeeter and a book she writes with two black domestic servants about working in white Southern households in the early 1960s. While I enjoyed reading this book, I was very disappointed in the ending. What could have been a wonderful story about the fight for equal rights, I feel like ended with the Ms. Skeeter getting all the benefit, a job in NY with a publishing house, and and the domestic servants all the consequences, loss of their and their husbands jobs for participating in the book. While the book tries to end on a hopeful note I can't get over the inequality and the lack of responsibility that Ms. Skeeter takes.
